HR Assistant for a boutique tax consulting firm on the Herengracht!
All about the function
The principal
As an HR Assistant, you will be employed directly by the client. Spirit Next Step supervises the entire recruitment and selection process. This tax consultancy firm provides income tax returns and tax advice for private clients. In addition, they support both national and international companies in the field of taxes, payroll services and administration. With a close-knit team of thirty colleagues, they work hard and with great pleasure every day. There are often team outings and a sunny garden, which adds to the atmosphere!
What does your position look like?
As an HR assistant, you will be working for the payroll services department. This department deals with the temporary payrolling of knowledge migrants. The clients are national and international companies that need skilled labor from outside the EU, temporarily or not, in the Netherlands. This company offers these people a temporary employment contract and passes the costs on to our clients. You will deal with both the onboarding and offboarding process of new employees, file creation, deadline monitoring and answering questions of both payrolling employees and clients regarding labor law.
Your duties will include
Customer contact with the company
- Foreign companies need to know the implications of the contracts and the procedure;
- Explain conditions of employment;
- Drafting agreements and employment contracts.
Contact with immigration lawyer
- Clients generally come in to us through an immigration lawyer; it is necessary to coordinate with the lawyer what the specifications are for the license, whether there are any particularities, what the start date might be;
- Check to see if application has been submitted/granted.
- Contact with employee
- Explanation of onboarding procedure, GBA enrollment, health insurance law, residency card retrieval;
- Payroll tax statement;
- Explanation of pension plan;
- Explanation of vacations and sick days.
Monitoring deadlines
- Probation, timely notification to client;
- End of employment; timely contact with client whether contract should be renewed or not;
- Expiration date residence/work permit;
- Application and expiration of 30% rule.
Periodic inspection
In connection with our NEN 4400 certification as a payroll organization, we are required to have our files inspected periodically. Prior to this inspection, all files of the payroll employees must be gone through to see if everything is complete.

Furthermore, it is important that you
- Have experience in the field of HR;
- Can work well with colleagues;
- You are presentable;
- Fluent in Dutch and also proficient in English;
- Live in the Amsterdam area;
- Not working on a self-employed basis.
